5 FORAGING TIPS

  • Never eat anything you cannot name. There are hundreds of poisonous plants and fungi out there, some of them deadly.
  • Forage with care, picking only a leaf here and there, and only take what you can sensibly use.
  • Don’t trepass – anyone is allowed to pick wildflowers, fungi, leaves and fruit from any publicly accessible land for private use (nature reserves may allow it too).
  • Plan ahead – while on walks take notes of promising foraging locations to visit later in the year.
  • Keep your finds separate – sorting out a basket of mixed fruit and fungi can take hours.
